LPG Cylinder price drop; check rates in your city

On Tuesday, the Narendra Modi government stated that 200 rupees would reduce the price of LPG Gas home cylinder.

The current price of an LPG Gas cylinder:

A 14.2-kg LPG cylinder current price is ₹1,103 in the national capital, more than double the price in May 2020. When the ruling is implemented on Wednesday, it will cost ₹903.

After taking into account the ongoing ₹200 per cylinder subsidy, the price for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries will be ₹703.

A Rakshabandhan gift by PM Modi:

In addition, the government announced an additional 75 lakh Ujjwala connections, bringing the total number of Ujjwala yojana beneficiaries to 10.35 crore.

While there are only 9.6 crore Ujjwala beneficiaries, the country has 31 crore home cooking gas buyers.

While announcing the choices during the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur stated that the decision to reduce the price of cooking gas is a present from PM Modi to the women of the country on Onam and Rakshabandhan.

The list shows the price of LPG Gas cylinders in a specific city:

         CITY Price

  • New Delhi 903
  • Kolkata 929
  • Chennai 908.5
  • Mumbai 902.5
  • Bengaluru 905.5
  • Ahmedabad 910

Govt stops LPG subsidies:

The government discontinued LPG subsidies in June 2020. Cooking gas was charged at the market cost across the country, which soared to 1,103 in the national capital.

India imports 60% of its natural gas consumption.

To clear a stack of Ujjwala applications and give deposit-free LPG connections to all eligible homes, the government will soon begin distributing PMUY connections to 75 million women from low-income households. This brings the overall number of beneficiaries under PMUY to 10.35 crore.
