Bajaj Auto announces development of CNG motorcycle

The Bajaj Auto earmarked Rs 5,000 crore over five years for social impact initiatives, prioritizing skill development under ‘Bajaj Beyond, ‘ the Group’s new essence for all its CSR and charitable agendas.

Bajaj Auto, under the leadership of Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj, is venturing into the development of clean fuel motorcycles.

The company revealed plans to introduce its first compressed natural gas (CNG) motorcycle to the market in June. This innovative vehicle is expected to cater to mileage-conscious consumers and will be launched under a new brand.

Key Features and Pricing

The CNG motorcycle is designed to offer both petrol and CNG fuel options, providing convenience to customers. However, it is anticipated that these eco-friendly bikes will be priced higher than their petrol counterparts due to the increased manufacturing costs, including the incorporation of a special tank for storing CNG.

Milestones for Pulsar

In addition to the CNG motorcycle announcement, Rajiv Bajaj highlighted the imminent milestone achievement of 2 million units for the iconic Pulsar brand.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Pulsar has remained a flagship model for Bajaj Auto, showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the two-wheeler segment.

Bajaj Group’s CSR Commitment

Under the overarching initiative ‘Bajaj Beyond’, the Bajaj Group has pledged Rs 5,000 crore towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives over the next five years.

This significant investment will primarily focus on skill development, aiming to benefit over 2 crore youth and empower them to seize employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in India’s growing economy.

Continued Philanthropic Endeavors

Chairman Niraj Bajaj emphasized the Bajaj Family’s longstanding commitment to social responsibility, highlighting contributions totaling close to Rs 4,000 crore over the past decade.

These CSR initiatives, spanning areas such as education, healthcare, livelihood, and water conservation, are facilitated through various institutions like the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation and the Kamalnayan Bajaj Hospital.

Conclusion

Bajaj Auto’s foray into CNG motorcycles reflects its dedication to sustainability and innovation, while the Bajaj Group’s substantial CSR commitment underscores its ongoing efforts to uplift and empower communities across India.
