With fuel prices in the UAE falling, Dubai authorities have declared taxi fares drop that will reflect immediately. The lowest fare in Dubai is down by 22 fils now.

Adel Shakri, director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, stated, “the cost has come down from 2.19 per km to 1.97 per km. This affects the standard fuel prices going up and coming down.” 

“Since the previous four months, it has been going down, and as a result, we lowered the tax as well. This is part of our actions to remain transparent with the passengers. This will be applicable to all sorts of taxis, including limousines.”

Taxi prices in Dubai drop significantly: 

This makes a 20-kilometre taxi ride more affordable by Dh4.40, bringing ease to passengers regarding the increased demand for the service.

The UAE on December 30 substantially decreased retail fuel costs for the month of January 2023.

The first taxi fare drop was executed in October last year.

Before, in September 2022, authorities in Sharjah had declared a decrease of the lowest fare by Dh1, while in Ajman, the tax had been reduced by six per cent.

These reports resulted from the UAE’s fuel prices falling to a six-month low.

In early 2022, costs reached their highest level since they were liberalised in 2015, letting them roll in sync with the market.
