Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has been sworn in as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister following four days of high-voltage political drama. A Wealthy Legislator: Breaking Down Vijay’s Assets

Vijay’s declared wealth includes movable assets of Rs 426.20 crore and immovable assets of Rs 222.65 crore. His declared annual income of Rs 184 crore places him firmly at the top among all newly elected MLAs in the state, according to an analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Tamil Nadu Election Watch.

The richest MLA in the assembly is AIADMK’s Leemarose Martin from Lalgudi constituency, who declared assets worth a staggering Rs 5,863 crore.

A Fourfold Surge: How MLA Wealth Has Grown

The 233 winning candidates in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections collectively hold assets worth Rs 11,265 crore. The average wealth per winning MLA stands at Rs 48.35 crore — nearly four times the Rs 12.27 crore average recorded in 2021, highlighting a sharp rise in legislator wealth.

Among party-wise averages, AIADMK MLAs lead with Rs 152.89 crore per winner, while TVK averages Rs 27.09 crore, Congress Rs 17.81 crore, and DMK Rs 14.34 crore.
