Will paid Blue Badge on Instagram and Facebook? Or The big announcement will backfire.

Mark Zuckerberg yesterday evening made a big announcement for IG and FB users. Now in future, you have to pay around $11.99 (approx €11.20) per month on the web or $14.99 a month. For Apple’s iOS system and Android, it will be more. Now the question is, will paid Blue Badge on Instagram and Facebook work? The answer is “NO”.

The new strategy of paid Blue Badge on Instagram and Facebook by Mark Zuckerberg:

This new strategy of paid Blue Badge on Instagram and Facebook is coming at the wrong time. First, everyone feels it’s a copy of Elon Musk Twitter. Here Mark has to keep in mind Elon is a businessman. His goal was to take the juice out of Twitter and give it to others to run. Mark is a tech expert first, then a businessman. He is the founder of Meta. It is his main project, so making such a decision can be a big mistake.

Twitter paid verification came in Nov 2022, and you can see he got fewer responses. Using the same strategy has two reasons: collecting valid, genuine data online on the name of the blue badge or taking advantage of the option verified. If this is a reason, it will not work in any country.

No user will pay for his identity. Already Meta takes a Phone number to get an account. And that phone number in a country like India is already verified, so why will a user pay for a simple blue tick?

Making the Blue Badge common will be a mistake:

The blue badge concept was best for a public figure, and to make it familiar in social media will lose its charm. The blue badge was like an identity that the user is a special one, and he is adding value to the country and Meta too. Now giving the same identity will finish the entire concept of the Blue badge, and it will also hurt badly to fame of FB and IG. The verified top users will feel they are in the same category as commoners.

This decision is a big one, IG and Fb are popular platforms among Youth. FB and IG get lots of ad work thanks to public figures. Now making it familiar will ruin their concept. Still, we can just predict time will tell the outcome of this decision.
