Mumbai Police arrest man for driving scooty with seven children

The Mumbai police arrest and reported a case for an attempt to murder at the Tardeo police station after a clip of the scooter ride went viral.

The Mumbai police arrest a 40-year-old man on Sunday in central Mumbai for tried condemnable homicide after a clip of him riding a two-wheeler with seven minor pillion riders went viral on the internet.

On June 20, a Twitter account, Sohail Qureshi, shared a video of the ride and said, “This irresponsible maniac is riding with seven children on a scooter. He should be immediately arrested for risking the lives of seven young children. Even the parents of these kids should be prosecuted.”

The Twitter user reported to the Mumbai police, the commissioner of Mumbai police and the chief minister of Maharashtra.

After the video went viral, police reported a case under Indian Penal Code Section 308 (attempt to murder) at the Tardeo police station, said Senior police officer Vivek Shende.

The Mumbai traffic officer on Sunday shared a tweet that read, “Not the ride we support! This rider had put the life of all pillion riders and others in danger. A serious offence u/sec 308 IPC for attempting to commit culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered against the accused rider. #FollowRules #SetRightExample.”
