Rajinikanth Breaks Silence on Vijay as Tamil Nadu’s New Chief Minister

Superstar Rajinikanth finally broke his silence on actor-turned-politician Vijay’s rise to Tamil Nadu’s top political office, addressing growing speculation at a press conference held at his Poes Garden residence in Chennai on Sunday.

The veteran actor clarified that his recent meeting with DMK chief MK Stalin was purely personal and should not be interpreted as a political statement or opposition to the newly elected Chief Minister Vijay.

Rajinikanth Dismisses Rivalry Claims

Firmly denying any jealousy over Vijay’s political success, Rajinikanth said he had congratulated Vijay shortly after election results confirmed his party’s victory. In a lighter moment, he quipped that if anyone could make him jealous, it would be fellow actor Kamal Haasan — not Vijay. He also expressed genuine surprise that Vijay managed to become Chief Minister on his very first electoral attempt, calling it a remarkable political debut.

A Strong Rebuttal to Critics

Addressing the wave of criticism and misinformation surrounding his political position, Rajinikanth made his stance clear. “If I don’t respond, it will be taken as truth,” he said, asserting that he is “not a cheap or low-standard person to speak unnecessarily.” He explained that the press interaction was driven by the need to correct false narratives gaining traction in public discourse.

Rajinikanth also expressed sadness over Stalin’s electoral loss in Kolathur, where the DMK chief was defeated by TVK candidate VS Babu by nearly 9,000 votes, underscoring that their friendship runs deeper than political affiliations.

Acknowledging the broader significance of Tamil Nadu’s political shift, Rajinikanth praised Vijay for defeating both the DMK and AIADMK — the two dominant Dravidian parties — calling it a defining moment in the state’s political history.
